When
you are in childhood you either wish to become a doctor, engineer,
maybe you follow the one you have considered him/her your role model,
or some choose the profession selected by your parents and some
follow their own dreams. And yes, I was the one who wanted to fulfill
my own dreams. Hi, friends I am Shikha Singh and I want to be a pilot
in Indian Air Force.
I am staying in a small town Bahraich which is about 3 hours from
Lucknow and I belong to a non-defence background. When I was a small
kid everyone used to ask me what do you want to become? I don't know
what qualities my dad found in me and he said to everyone she will
become a pilot one day. May be that two lines were my motivation or
it was my own belief in me I knew I will do something and one day my
dad will proud of me.

But, you know life doesn't come to your foot as expected, there
are many hurdles always waiting for you and my crises came when India
was effected through the recession. My dad lost his job and there was
acute financial crises in my home as well. But, still I didn't lose
hope, I had to clear the AFCAT exam and there my friend help me by
providing the SSB study material, even she is preparing for same. We
both studied so hard prepared all the notes infact I cleared the
entrance test as well. But, I couldn't clear the interview. Yes, friends, it's not a simple dish that you can clear the interview its the
toughest and I agree it's true. But, don't lose hope as I didn't. The
officers judge us not only physically, mentally, team efforts and
especially psychologically. Some how now the recession stuffs were
under control and my dad was now earning ok that he could afford my
coaching since I wanted to do the coaching from SSB institute Delhi.
I heard that here the institute's work with you, they provide good
SSB study material, they bring the best out of candidate and I
joined it.

Friends, yes, it brought a terrific change in me. The officers who
teaches you are more over ex-officers or are professionally trained Officers. Their role is not just only to make you perfect to crack
the interview, but they make you the best. Tell me how could I know
my negatives and my positives by just staying at home, I already
mentioned that I belonged to a non defence, family, even if I would
have been from a defence background the time and technology changes
every second. This instant touched me with the updated study
material, we did an outdoor task, mock interview, which made me
confident to let me know my body language. We know that many people
are short tempered and so was I they made me control my anger,
handling pressure and let me enjoy my profession.
I will give my another attempt of AFCAT this Feb, and I can
proudly say I am not afraid of anything. I know I can do it even
though I belong to a very small city I think may be hardly people
know about my town because whenever I introduced myself mostly ask
where is it? But, the family support which I got has brought me till
here I can't imagine or any other field as my career. Hurdles are
just a peanut, work hard, learn more I know I will fly one day and so
as you.
